looking into the fridge / knowing the difference between
American Football vs. Table Tennis / walking block

I thought it would be a good idea to have other people tell you what they think of me instead of me telling you how great I am. I always felt it's weird saying that stuff yourself, calling yourself award winning and such. So that's what you'll find on the opening page. However, I was told that in the world of www. and google you cannot be found unless you tell them everything worth mentioning. So here it is.

Timotheus ueber Timo

Timo Langer (*1978) is a Director and Editor currently living in Edinburgh, UK. He likes film and filmmaking a lot. So much so it's been rumored he says silly things like “...certain films felt like such a partner growing up.”. What nonsense.

He started making films in his late teens and after graduating High School he went on to educate himself away from TV screens and Hi8 Cameras.

He began at The New York Film Academy producing and directing short films and working as a technical advisor. After studying photography at Bolton University he attended The German Film School and graduated as a Digital Artist (PgDip). He then went to Edinburgh College of Art where he received a Master of Design in Visual Communication (Mdes) and later on graduated from the Edinburgh Skill and Media Academy as a Master of Fine Art in Advance Film Practice (MFA).

This educational tour de force poured out a number of projects which recently or not so recently have been recognised internationally.

Langer's films have been screened at festivals such as the

  • Dallas International Film Festival
  • The Boston Underground Film Festival
  • The Leeds International Film Festival
  • Kolkata International Film Festival
  • Edinburgh International Film Festival

Further he was selected to the talent pool Trailblazer in 2007 recognising new emerging talent was a member of the CILECT Congress (World's Film and Television Schools) as well as a member of the ENGAGE Co-production Training Programme and the winner of the 4Talent award for Best Directing all in 2008.

The latest film “DACH” which he co-directed with Robert Glassford won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Technical Excellence in 2007 while their previous collaboration “The Big Forever” was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA in 2006 and was scored by ingenius composer and Golden Globe nominee Clint Mansell

Apart from Clint Mansell, Langer has had the pleasure of working with/for other glorious individuals such as Mark Cousins, Tilda Swinton, Irvine Welsh, Norman Stone, Alice Nelson, Robert Glassford, Ruth Paxton, Jamie Stone, Matt Lloyd, Carlos Andres Gomez, Angus McInnes and Mark Owen.

In 2009, Langer followed director Mark Cousins to the North of Iraq to make the film
“The First Movie” about the relationship between children, cinema and war.
The film played at the Telluride Film Festival in 2010 and many others. It also won the prestigious Prix Italia award the same year.

Langer also edited Cousins's epic “The Story of Film” (2011), a 15- hour history of cinema.
